Our optometry story is one of passion, care, and dedication. From his early days as a Saturday boy at a local opticians, Oliver's career has been driven by his love for eye care and fashion. Let's dive into his journey and the values that have shaped him into the compassionate professional he is today.
Inspired by a university presentation at the age of 15, Oliver set out on his path in Optometry. Starting at a local family practice in his hometown, he quickly immersed himself in the world of optics. Through hard work and enthusiasm, Oliver progressed from a Saturday boy to the specialty workshop, where he honed his skills in crafting and repairing glasses.
Seeking to expand his knowledge, Oliver ventured to a prestigious clinical and high-fashion practice in Leeds. It was here that he discovered the perfect blend of eye health and stylish eyewear, fueling his appreciation for both. Oliver's dedication and contributions caught the attention of the Yorkshire Optical Society committee, and he was eventually elected as the president, serving the organization for several years.
Following his time in Leeds, Oliver received a special invitation that brought him back to where it all began. His former mentor, now retired, invited him to return to the original practice where Oliver had started his journey. Over the years, Oliver found fulfillment in providing exceptional eye care to his local community.
Well eventually Oliver met Genna, who he said had beautiful, healthy eyes in her eye test where they first met.
In a serendipitous turn of events, Oliver and Genna were given the chance to fulfill their dream of creating a family-friendly practice. They acquired Andrew Lomas Optometrist LTD, chosen by their dear friend Andrew, the previous owner, to continue his legacy of exceptional patient care. With a focus on clinical expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, top-notch lenses, and exquisite eyewear, Oliver and Genna strive to provide unparalleled service at sensible Yorkshire prices.
Genna, a compassionate Registered Veterinary nurse with a deep love for animals (of all shapes and sizes) and plants shares Oliver's passion for community engagement. She works tirelessly in the back ground to keep the practice in tip top condition and at their current practice, Genna sells home grown house plants, with proceeds benefiting the Halifax Society for the blind. Their son Isaac also adds joy to the practice, engaging with patients and brightening their days. Often helping them choose their next pair of trendy frames.
Oliver's dedication extends beyond his individual practice. He remains involved with the Calderdale Local Optical Committee, tirelessly working to strengthen connections between primary and secondary eye care services. His commitment to enhancing the eye care ecosystem reflects his unwavering dedication to his profession and the well-being of his patients
